LITTLE ODISSEIA Douro Red 2016

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – 85pts, Mark Squires

“The 2014 Little Odisseia is 30% each of Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca, with 20% each of Touriga Nacional (a new minimum for the blend) and Tinta Roriz, all unoaked and coming in at 13.5% alcohol. Not imported, this runs only around five Euros in Portugal. For the “little” wine in a rather poor vintage, this is a nice surprise and excellent effort. Showing some flavor, a refined feel and velvety texture, this drinks nicely and seems pretty serious. There’s just enough structure to give it some grip on the finish. Its mid-palate finesse is appealing, too, but it’s fair to note that also means there isn’t a lot of concentration. For five Euros, to be sure, you can’t expect much more. All in all, this may not be the best I’ve seen in the brand, but it is a nice success at the price level. Drink it young for best results.” – 30th Jun 2017
